The Book Of Witney
The BOOK OF WITNEY was first published in 1986 as a hardback. Revisions were published in 1994 and 2007, but it is now out of print. Its authors, Charles and Joan Gott, have lived in the town for over a third of a century. The book is the result of Charles's interest in Local History, stimulated by a course leading to a Certificate in Local History from the Oxford University Department of Local Studies, and Joan's love of writing. Their shared interests are local history, travel, walking and food. They have also published EDWARDIAN WITNEY, based on extracts from the Witney Gazette of 1901-1910.
